1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 DZ302

In the world of muscle cars every manufacturer started introducing different trim levels which combined mostly performance focused options. For instance with Mustangs you had the Shelby GT 350 and GT 500. While there may be some cosmetic differences the main focus stuck with the overall muscle car theme of packing in as much performance as possible for competitions. Chevrolet's entry onto the field for its first generation of Camaros was the RS, SS and primarily the Z28. The Z28 was designed specifically for the SCCA Trans Am Series. They designed the DZ 302 motor to come in under the 305 ci limitation and these motors went on to reach legendary status. They achieved this by using a 327 ci block and a crankshaft from a 283 ci motor resulting in a 302.4 ci displacement. The primary purpose was to compete with the Mustang and the cars went on to perform very well in NHRS drag racing and the SCCA Trans Am series where it claimed the 1968 and 1969 Manufacturer's Championship title. This pleased the developers vision of being superior to the Mustang and these cars have become quite collectable. Another unique thing about them was with the large 4.00 in bore and short 3.00 in stroke the engine could rev well into the 7,000 rpm range. This made the small blocks design much more reliable than its big block counter part while allowing it higher horsepower potential. This extremely clean 1969 Z28 is in great condition and is a date correct engine. The rebuilt motor runs extremely well and is paired with a 5 speed manual transmission and 12 bolt rear end. The car does come with its original 4 speed. It has power brakes with discs up front and power steering.

The body on this Camaro is very clean and painted in a nice combo of its original Cortez Silver with dual Black racing stripes. It has a rear deck spoiler and black front chin spoiler both of which are in good condition. It has all of its correct Camaro, Z/28 and 302 badging in place on the body, grill and cowl hood. The front and rear chrome bumpers are in great condition with a nice shine. All of the exterior electrical is working correctly with no issues. The glass has a slight tint and no chips or cracks. Overall it is a very clean car throughout. The original Rally wheels look great and are wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires with plenty of tread.

The interior has been restored in its original Black color and is very stock. It has its factory bucket seats and original console which houses the Hurst shifter and additional gauges. The door panels, seats, headliner and carpet all look great along with the Z/28 floor mats. The dash and dash pad are in great condition and the dash has been kept all original. The correct gauges are all working properly including the in dash tachometer and the car was also ordered with an 8 track player which is still in place. The trunk has a nice original style mat and houses a jack and original spare which still features its original Goodyear tire.

These Z28 302 cars are very sought after and this one is very clean. The odometer reads 13,779 but it is unknown whether that is original or if it has rolled over. If you are in the market for a nice investment level collector car this is definitely one to check out.
