The Ford N Series of trucks was Ford's 60's entry in the "work truck" market. They came as dump trucks, small tractors, and flatbeds. Their Cab over flat nose design has a great look and lets you know it means business. One look at the design and you can tell these things were tough and ready to take on whatever job you throw at them. This 1965 N600 is not a modified or created vehicle but started its life as a wrecker originally. You could use it to haul around your collection or start your own tow company. It isn't just looks because it is set up to be a legitimate tow truck. The body is all painted a light Blue and is combined with a Silver grill and Black bumper. It is a rollback so the flat bed can be hydraulically operated to make loading vehicles a breeze. It has 22.5 inch dually wheels in back and 19.5 inch Alcoa wheels up front.
The unique hood set up can be opened from either side to reveal the 2000 E-350 7.3 L V8 power stroke motor. It is a diesel and both more powerful and more economical than the original engine. It is backed by a 5 speed manual transmission that moves through the gears smoothly. The rear end is out of a 1998 International 2 ton. Most of these you see are vintage bodies on more modern chassis but this one has been kept all stock which actually makes it quite unique. It runs out well and is ready to roll.
The interior is done in a two tone White and light Blue theme throughout. The bench seat is nicely upholstered and has lap belts. On the dash is aftermarket gauges as well as a Garmin system. Underneath it has all the controls for the Chelsea PTO, brake lock, etc. It also has a Vintage AC underdash unit which blows cold.
As you can see with all the things going on this truck has clearly seen some time in the field. It would be a cool way to haul around a collection but could also easily be put back into service and go to work.
