History
In 1955, the W188 model series was revised and renamed the Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc. Chrome-plated wheel rims and other chrome trim, a single-joint swing axle at the rear and, above all, a sophisticated direct petrol injection system, which increased the power output by 25 hp, upgraded the vehicles. The designation “Einspritzmotor” (injection engine) was displayed in large letters on the rear bumper. The new engine produced 175 hp (129 kW) and enabled a top speed of 180 km/h. From January 1956 to July 1957, 98 Coupés, 49 Cabriolets A and 53 Roadsters were built, making this one of the world’s most rarest Mercedes…
This particular car chassis number: 1880156 500144 was initially registered to a Mercedes-Benz board Director and features an even rarer floor gearshift as opposed to the standard steering column shift.
Beautifully restored, it’s been part of an incredible collection of cars since 2010 that are serviced and maintained by Finest Sports & Historic Cars in Lingen, north Germany. As with all cars in the collection, it is permanently registered and regularly driven therefore receiving the best level of maintenance possible.
