Heir to the 328 GTB, the 348 TB was a completely new car, offering a reinterpretation of the two-seater berlinettas with a mid-engine V8. The bodywork combined stylistic elements of the Testarossa (on the sides) with others from the classic models (such as the treatment of the nose that recalled that of the 375 MM).
The engine, mounted in a longitudinal position and coupled to a new transverse gearbox, has 300 hp, transferred to the road with extraordinary efficiency by the also new semi-monocoque chassis with high torsional rigidity.
The new model represented a radical departure from the design philosophy of its predecessor, not only in mechanical design, but also in body styling and chassis construction. Along with its sister the 348 TS, it was the first production Ferrari not to feature a separate tubular steel chassis. Instead, it used a pressed steel chassis, with a separate, bolted tubular steel subframe for the engine, with the body panels robotically welded and bolted to the main structure. The wheelbase was 2,450 millimetres, 100 more than the 328, with an internal reference code for the F 119 AB berlinetta.
This particular unit has only 73,700 KM with only two owners.
