First dispatched on the 8th of January 1951 – the year Jaguar first won the Le Mans 24 hour race – FPN 124 (Chassis 660369) is one of very few, genuine period raced Jaguar XK120 Competition Roadsters.
As the car sits today its condition is ‘box fresh’ from a detailed and incredibly well documented 5-year restoration after an action packed competition history spanning over 40-years. The restoration was a collaborative effort of Jaguar restoration and racing field experts, finalised by the in-house experts at Hilton & Moss to its original ‘twin aero screen’ visual specification. The car now presents in the optimum ‘fast road’ specification.
During its restoration 660369 has been finished in an exacting Metallic Silver over red leather/Bedford cord as per the cars Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Sold new by Stevson Garages, Torquay to a Mr J.H.A Risley-Prichard this XK120 was always destined for the motor racing circuits. Risley-Pritchard begun FPN 124’s racing career, a British Insurance Broker and privateer racer who’s career progressed to a seat at the 1955 Le Mans 24 hour race in an Aston Martin DB3S alongside Tony Brooks. The cars racing career is well recorded by notable dates including:
- 18th August 1951 – Goodwood BARC Members Meeting
- 29th September 1951 – Goodwood International Sports Car race
- 12th April 1952 – Castle Combe MC & LCC Race Meeting
- May 1952 – RAF Ibsley
- 2nd June 1956 – Silvestone Jaguar Drivers Club
- May 1977 – Jaguar Drivers Club
- 1983 – Montlhery, France
After racing damage in the mid 1980’s the car was fitted with a replacement chassis. During the restoration, retaining originality and authenticity was essential. The original chassis was still in existence and had been stored for a number of years. The chassis was forensically examined by Renn Sport Classics confirming its authenticity. The chassis was then meticulously restored keeping repairs localized saving a vast majority of the original chassis and all stampings. This stage of the restoration was diligently documented in the Jaguar enthusiast club magazine which accompanies the detailed restoration and history file.
In its current specification this XK120 is perfect for fast road driving and long distance touring or road rally endurance events.
