A Volvo P1800 in gold with beige leather upholstery; “that's lovely,” we said here at Gallery Aaldering. A very chic and, in our opinion, tasteful color combination. It does a lot for a car, and this Volvo certainly benefits from it!

The Volvo P1800 is a beautiful classic, which owes some of its fame to the popular TV series “The Saint” with Roger Moore. Upon its introduction in 1960, the P1800 was a remarkable appearance for the usually conservative Swedish manufacturer. The Volvo P1800 was partly based on the 121 sedan and was initially produced by Jensen Motors in West Bromwich, featuring a robust 1,778 cc four-cylinder engine. With dual carburetors, this engine produced 100 hp, good for a top speed of about 170 km/h. These were fine performances at the time. The car also had independent front suspension and a solid rear axle, and was equipped with servo-assisted disc brakes at the front.

In 1963, production of the P1800 moved to Sweden. In 1969, the P1800E got an engine displacement of 1,985 cc and was equipped with Bosch electronic fuel injection, increasing the power to 130 hp. In addition, disc brakes on all wheels became standard.

This particular 1972 example is in beautiful condition, both inside and out. The car has been carefully maintained with original parts and comes with extensive documentation, including maintenance records and history. The paint was resprayed in the past and still looks neat with minimal signs of use, and the bodywork is tight and in good condition. The whitewalls give the car a classic look, while the rubbers and windows are in very good condition. The chrome trims have developed a beautiful patina, which adds to the car's authentic look.

The interior of this Volvo P1800E is truly fantastic. The seats have been reupholstered with high-quality beige leather, which looks stunning and is very comfortable. The carpets are also in excellent condition. The interior is otherwise authentic and beautiful, with the correct Smiths gauges and a neat dashboard that is in great shape. The extensive documentation shows that the car has always received the necessary maintenance, which can be seen in the accompanying invoices.

This Volvo starts smoothly, the engine runs beautifully, and once on the road, this example drives as you would expect from a real Volvo: solid and with a touch of sportiness. The engine is nice and quiet, the shifting is smooth, and the steering feel is excellent.

In short, this 1972 Volvo P1800E is a stunning classic that is ready for many carefree kilometers. Are you interested in this special Volvo? Contact us now.
