The MK II Jag was THE performance sedan to have in the 60s and many stories circulate of it being the choice car for bank robbers and villains due to the fact that nothing could keep up with them, especially the coppers. Think of the MK II as a 4-door E-Type, it defines the term "sports sedan". There were 3 engine variations but the 3.8L DOHC six with a manual gearbox is the one to have and drive. The 3.8 motor was good for 125 mph and zero to 60 was achieved in only 8.5 seconds which was just .5 seconds slower than a Ferrari 250 GTE with a 4.0L V12! The MK II saloons ooze with class and style with luxurious interiors full of leather and burl walnut trim plus lots of chrome trim for added curb appeal.
This 1964 model year MK II is fitted with its original, matching-numbers 3.8L DOHC six-cylinder engine w/ larger SU carburetors from an E-Type, and is combined with the desirable 4-Speed all synchromesh manual gearbox w/ electric Overdrive. The car has chrome knock off wire wheels w/ Coker Classic red-line tires, Dunlop 4-wheel disk brakes, Lucas Fogranger fog lamps, Hella H4 headlamps, and is also fitted with a modern air conditioning system. The car is also fitted with an XKs Unlimited aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan and upgraded higher output alternator. The car has resided with its current owner for about 30 years and it has been shown at many shows here in the Northwest and driven on Jaguar club outings and tours. Under the current owner’s 30 year care the car was repainted at some point (about 20 years ago) to a good driver/show quality, new leather interior was fitted, new carpets, stainless exhaust system installed, and the wire harness was replaced. The owner has also informed us that the engine was rebuilt and larger SU carbs from an E-Type were fitted also about 20 years agao. In the last 10 years over $30,000 has been spent on various restorations and improvements and we do have invoices going back to 2013. These have included refinishing all interior wood to show quality, installing the AC kit, upgraded the cooling system, new fuel tank, filter, hoses, and sending unit, rebuilding the tachometer. In 2022 the clutch slave cylinder was replaced, system bled, oil changed, chassis and suspension lubed, new battery fitted, and the starter was rebuilt. In preparation for sale we have just changed the oil, new V-belts fitted, new correct stainless wiper blades were sourced and a complete detailing was performed.
Overall this is a very well sorted Jaguar MK II in the stunning and classic livery of British Racing Green over Black interior that should give you many miles of fun driving and will draw many admirers at car shows. The bodywork is in great shape as is the chrome and brightwork. The interior shows almost as new with show quality polished burl walnut wood, high quality leather interior, wool headliner, and velour carpets. All gauges, lamps, horn, signals, and wipers function as designed. The AC system blows cold, the heater blower motor works well, and the car starts easily with the automatic electric choke which shuts off correctly when the engine is up to temp. The MK II is a true joy to drive, the engine pulls very nice with lots of good low-end torque and it is quite spirited for an older car, it has enough power to put a big grin on your face as well as your passengers! The suspension is nice and tight, no vibrations, no rattles, the steering has good feel and is predictable, while the brakes are strong and the car stops very well. The transmission shifts easily up/down in all gears without fault and the overdrive is functional.
