Over the past few decades, the Chevrolet brand has developed a tedious yet highly successful habit of systematically reviving iconic packages and nameplates. ZR1, ZR2, SS, Blazer, and Camaro, to name a few. But one name that hasn't seen any action, at least outside of GM's design studios, is the vaunted Chevelle. And frankly, that's probably a good thing since it makes classics like this 1967 Chevelle SS396 Tribute all the more valuable in the hearts and minds of true enthusiasts. Because this Chevy is a tribute car, there was ample incentive to upgrade to a full 454 cubic inches of big block brawn under the hood. Naturally, that rowdy V8 is iced with snazzy chrome valve covers, an Edelbrock intake, an Edelbrock 4-barrel, and long tube headers. That mill's power is routed through a TH350 three-speed on its way to a 10-bolt rear axle. Front and rear coil-over shocks hide behind power drums and traditional, 15-inch Chevrolet Rally Wheels shod in 245/60R15 rubber. An attractive Black and Butternut Yellow profile, which has benefitted from a full repaint, looks subtly aggressive thanks to the car's great stance. Behind the doors, a simple cockpit invites one lucky driver and a couple of lucky passengers into the all-business world of American muscle car black. Choice, aftermarket speed parts are sprinkled through a mostly stock interior to hint that this car might be a little more than your average '60s family hauler. An old-school three-spoke steering wheel laps a column-mounted tach, tracking how quickly the big 454 turns. The car's original HVAC controls shade modern analog gauges that monitor oil pressure, battery health, and water temperature. Highlights: *454 V8 *Edelbrock carb *Edelbrock intake *Long tube headers *TH350 auto *Power brakes *Coil spring suspension *Rallye wheels *Racing steering wheel *Aftermarket gauges *Great cruiser There's no shame in continuing to lobby GM to bring back a modern-day Chevelle. After all, it worked for Camaro. But, until The General comes to its senses, we'll have to 'get by' with cars like this charming 1967 coupe. Cars that were genuinely built for our senses. It is one of the best profiles ever created, wrapped around 454 cubic inches of rowdy big block power that the driver feels through a three-spoke steering wheel, drum brakes, and 15-inch wheels with plenty of tires that'll scorch any road. Yeah... That's not so bad!
