Books have already been written about John DeLorean. So let's ignore the colorful founder of the car brand of the same name. What remains is a unique car, a beautiful concept and a car that was made world famous by the Back to the Future films. Whether the DMC DeLorean would have become as famous without the films and would still be as loved today, we will never know.
Our car, which has been on Dutch soil for 32 years, looks beautiful. The bodywork was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and is a beautiful piece of design. The way the car was built is an equally great masterpiece, the basis is a Y-shaped chassis that was inspired by the Lotus Esprit. Surrounding it is a fiberglass underbody on which the stainless steel body was mounted. A beautiful way to build a car. Most likely, the appearance alone is responsible for the fact that so many rumors have surfaced that someone wanted to restart the famous brand. The brushed stainless steel exterior gives the DeLorean a beautiful and futuristic appearance and still looks great.
The technology is beautifully taken care of. The technology has recently been completely overhauled. The work on this DeLorean has all been beautifully recorded by means of invoices. The rest of the interior also looks neat. The flat, wide instrument panel is fully functional, which also applies to the controls and electrical matters such as the window controls. We sometimes see things differently with DeLoreans, but this example has neat upholstery on the seats and the dashboard and other parts are also very neat in terms of upholstery. The carpets are of course also in good condition.
The engine and transmission are otherwise rock solid. The DMC DeLorean is powered by a 2.7 liter V6 engine that DeLorean was allowed to build under license from Renault. The engine produces 132 hp and in this case is linked to a manual transmission. The engine and transmission are more than up to the task and make the DeLorean a wonderfully relaxing touring car. The car is also equipped with independent suspension all around and excellent brakes, so it drives fantastic.
In short, a beautiful DeLorean in beautiful collector's quality with mountains of preventive maintenance that we rarely find so beautiful.
